CCREW517TEC: The Best Things in Life are Sweet

Hi All!

For our May Creative Crew Technique Challenge, I chose the Double Gate Fold card.  This was a new technique for me and there's a great tutorial over at Splitcoaststampers if you'd like to give it a try.

I love this technique!  It looks so fancy-shmancy, but it's actually pretty easy to do.  You just need to be sure that you have a double sided DSP that you like as you'll be using both sides of the print.

The DSP I used is from the Cool Treats Suite in the Occasions Mini.  There's also a really cute stamp set called Cool Treats that will be carrying over into the 2017-2018 catalog.  It features all kinds of sweet treats.  I used an older stamp set here, but Cool Treats would be a great set for birthdays and summer themed cards. So be sure to check it out.

Item# 145181 Cool Treats $48.50

The sentiment is from the Suite Sentiments set in the Occasions Mini.  This set is awesome!  These sentiments pair up with so many different stamp sets which make it so versatile.  This set is retiring this month, so snatch it up as quick as you can!

Item# 142971 Suite Sentiments $20.00

Enjoy

 Hi All!

Happy weekend!  I hope you're enjoying it!

I have another sweet Swallowtail card to share with you today.  It's the same background stamp I used in my last post.  This time I used the whole image on the card.  As you can see, when I said it was big, it's pretty big!  So, I kept this card CAS (Clean and Simple) as well.

The Swallowtail has been clear embossed onto Purely Pomegranate card stock.  Yes, this is a blast from the past.  It was one of the first colors that I ever bought from SU....many, many years ago.  It is still one of my favorites.  Rose Red is a shade lighter and a great alternative.

I love the clear emboss technique.  You stamp your image with Versamark and add the clear embossing powder.  Heat it and your image is set.  It adds a nice glossy effect.

I kept the sentiment simple.  It was stamped and then punched with the Artisan Label Punch.  I folded it over the Pomegranate panel and adhered to the front/back.

What do you think?  Clean and Simple enough?  I sure think so.  That's the nice thing about this stamp.  It doesn't need much embellishing.  It speaks for itself.  If you'd like to add this stamp to your collection, just click on the Order Online icon at the top of the page.  It is Item# 129216 (Clear) or 131943 (Wood).

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Queen for a Day

Well, who doesn't want to be a Queen for a Day??? Admit it, there's a bit of princess in each of us. I thought that sentiment was perfect for the card I have for you today. As soon as I saw this on the cover of the 2011-2012 Catalog, I knew I had to make it. My favorite part....that fabulous frame that is the focal image of the card.

It is one of the new Designer Frames embossing folders that SU has introduced. This oval also comes with a rectangular frame. I have seen them used so many different ways and I will definitely be sharing them with you.

I must admit that this DSP also steals a bit of the show. Yep, I pulled out the Mocha Morning again for this card. Between all the fussy tearing, ribbon and feminine details, I do believe this card is fit for a Queen! Hope you like it.

Stamps: You're a Gem, Tiny Tags & Elements of Style
Paper: Soft Suede, Early Espresso & Very Vanilla Cardstock; Mocha Morning DSP
Ink: Early Espresso & Regal Rose Classic Pads
Accessories: Designer Frames Embossing Folders, Antique Brads, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch and Crumb Cake Seam Binding

A Springtime Friend

This card is a CASE of Ilina Crouse's card here. I love how she combined all of these elements. I did change out some of the accessories on my card. I don't have the Beveled Windowpanes, so my focal image is just stamped and layered. A simple approach, but just as effective.

My favorite part of this card...the Springtime Vintage DSP. I love this paper pack! It is everything feminine and in just the perfect way. I got the matching fabric and hope to have a project to share with you soon. Hint: Think Fun Flowers Die ;)
