Soda Pop Top Fun

Hi All,

Happy Weekend!  Time for a little rest and relaxation.  I have a Fall Workshop next weekend, so in addition, I will be doing some paper crafting.  I got some new goodies, so I'm very looking forward to it!

My card for you today uses Soda Pop Tops that I bought back in the spring and hadn't played with.  I came across this tutorial and card from Julie Davison and was inspired to play. (I just love her work.)

Soda Pop Tops...what a fun embellishment!  They come with sharp edges, but you can run them through the Big Shot to curl and soften them.  Julie has a great tutorial on how to do it.  So easy. Stop by her blog and take a look.

For my colors, I knew I wanted to use the Wisteria Wonder.  It pairs up beautifully with the Afternoon Picnic DSP.  I love this paper pack!  The papers are full of beautiful colors and fun designs.  It's so very versatile.

The focal circle was cut out with my Nestabilities and I used the Negative Image.  I originally hadn't paper pierced the inner circle, but as we worked through the card at my workshop, the girls were surprised I hadn't paper pierced it as that is my "Thing".  So, I did a revamp and pierced it using the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack.  It has 10 different circle sizes to use for piercing.  So, it works with virtually any size circle you're working with.  It's a Must-Have if you're a piercer like me.

The only struggle I had with this card was whether to add a sentiment or not.  I have this issue with not stamping a sentiment on the front of the card, so I added one.  But, some of the girls at my workshop, left it blank saying it was a piece of art on it's own, that it didn't need one.  What do you think?  To sentiment or not to sentiment?

Country Morning

Happy Weekend!  I have a sweet little country lovin' card for you today.  I've had this stamp set (Country Morning) forever and have never inked it up.  But, I couldn't bear to get rid of it either.  I knew there would be a use for it someday.  When I got this card together, it just called out country to me and this set just happened to be perfect for it.

Wisteria Wonder was a new In Color a couple catalogs ago.  It didn't grab me then, but this time around, I had to have it.  Not to mention, it is paired up gorgeously with so many other colors in the Afternoon Picnic DSP (Coastal Cabana, Pear Pizzazz, Crushed Curry and many others.)  This card uses one of the hexagonal prints from this pack.  I chose to pair it up with Crushed Curry.  The colors are actually much softer IRL, but seemed to be a bit brighter once photographed.

As if this paper wasn't enough of a show-stopper, the new Chevron ribbon is the perfect accent.  Chevrons are so hot right now and I can't get enough of them.  This ribbon comes in 11 more colors and I'm pretty sure I NEED to have them all!

Praying for Comfort

I hope you're not tired of the sweet Swallowtail that I've been sharing with you this past week!  I have one more for you today...And, I think this one may even be my favorite.  It was inspired by this card from Mary Brown. 

I loved how she incorporated the DSP with the butterfly. The floral print is the perfect match!  This print is from the Afternoon Picnic DSP.  What a beautiful pack of paper.  I love the colors and was sold on the Wisteria Wonder and Coastal Cabana color combos.  One of the other colors in the pack is Crushed Curry.  This is one of the prints.  I paired it up with Basic Gray.  They are gorgeous together. And, I also found that they were subtle enough for a Bereavement Card.

This design has two 'Must-Have' items: the Swallowtail stamp (Clear 129216 / Wood 131943) and the Afternoon Picnic DSP (131390).
