Bike Ride

I love this set.  Yes, it has lots of pieces, and yes you have to stamp all of those pieces, but the pay-off is so worth it.  With this Build-A-Bike set you can create your own custom bikes.

My card is a CASE of this card by Katy Harrison.  I loved all of her luscious layers and the simplicity of the bike.  For me, bikes and polka dots are like peas and carrots.  They are both so perfectly feminine. I couldn't help but pair them up.

Happy Washi-leen

Hi All,

I know, I know....Halloween is over, but I had made some Halloween purchases and didn't get to play with them till this weekend.  So...you are getting a few straggling Halloween projects.  Hope you don't mind ;)

This card features the Witches Brew Washi Tape from the Holiday Mini. I had never used Washi Tape, but was inspired by this card by Andi Potler.

Andi's card was designed around the washi tape.  I thought that was pretty clever!  This tape is super easy to use and has a paper-y texture, so it's easy to tear.  I combined it with the a googly eyed jack-o-lantern from the Got Treats set and it was a pretty quick and easy card to make.  I LOVE those!

The second card I have for you today is one I received from a new customer of mine.  I was very surprised and excited to get it in the mail.  Thanks Linda...it was very thoughtful of you.  It is a super cute card and I love the beaded spider.  Eek!

Halloween cards are so fun to make, but it's one holiday I don't have a lot of products for.  If you're the same way, the washi tape is a great addition, as you can turn it from an embellishment on a 3-D project to the focal image on a card.  It's so versatile!  Be sure to order it before the Holiday Mini ends on January 2nd.

A Merry Little Penguin

Hi All,

Happy Saturday!  We are lucky enough to have another beautiful day in Arizona.  I'll take the 70s in December any year.  We are dropping down into the 60s next week, so maybe winter is finally gonna settle in.

The card I have for you today is a shameless CASE from Kimberly Van Diepen over at Stampin' by the Sea.  I saw this card and Had.To.Have this stamp set!  I fell in love with this adorable little penguin. Is he not the cutest thing you've ever seen???  Well, this set also has an adorable deer (that was on my last card) and a sweet little snowman, both of which are just as cute.  These critters were the star of the show the other night.

My cards are definitely not usually this colorful, frilly or spritzed, but I LOVE what she did with all of these elements.  Your eye is immediately drawn to these fabulous colors: Rich Razzleberry,  Lucky Limeade and a pop of Melon Mambo.  That fun Lucky Limeade print is from the Summer Smooches DSP (Item 125409). Check it out, it is full of other fun colorful prints!

This card also has plenty of heat embossing.  The sentiment, our cute little penguin and the tiny tag are all embossed in black.  I think it really helped them pop against everything else that's going on.  Any time you're embossing, be sure to have the Embossing Buddy (Item 103083) on hand.  If you're wondering whether it's really worth it to have, it is!  Just rub it on your paper prior to stamping and it removes any static that's there.  This keeps the powder from sticking to the places you don't want it to.

I had looked through the catalog dozens of times and had never looked twice at this stamp set.  It's amazing how seeing it used one way, can totally open your eyes.  So glad I got it...as it has easily become one of my favorites!  It would also be great for tags.  So versatile!  If you're like me and can't wait to add this to your collection, it is (Item 126290 in Wood & Item 126292 in Clear).  You can order it by popping me an email or clicking the Order Online button in the top right corner.  Hope you enjoyed this card as much as I did.  TFL!

Hi All,

Happy Holidays! I hope that each of you are enjoying the day with your family and friends. We got together with my family yesterday, so it's a nice quiet relaxing day at home for us.

I made sure to squeeze in a few minutes to upload my last card of the holiday season. It is a paper pieced tree. I saw this tree on a tag that Jennifer Timko had designed and just had to recreate it.


I loved the papers she chose to use, so I kept those the same. They are 1 3/4", 1 1/2", 1 1/4", and 1" squares cut in half on the diagonal and stacked. How clever is that? I paired them up with some Crumb Cake card stock, kept the design simple and added some seam binding. What a cute card that you could replicate with so many different Designer Series Papers.

Peace Love Joy

Hi All,

As you know, I've been designing for The Paper Players the last couple of months. It's been a focus of creating lots of original designs....but, I've also had my eye on a couple of great cards that I've been wanting to CASE.

My card today was inspired by Jen Sannes over at Simple & Sincere. Her cards are all Simply Fabulous. This one has a non-traditional color theme that is right up my alley: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Basic Black.

The colors and simple design are perfect for such an elegant card. And, who doesn't love snowflakes. There is truly something so serene about them. Jen, thanks so much for such a beautiful inspiration!

PP75: Darling Dasher

Hi All! I have had a delightfully chilly, rainy day here in AZ to create my project for this week. Nance has given us quite the challenge: Create a Holiday card using non-holiday stamps or colors.
I looked over all my stamp sets and nothing was really grabbing me...so, I went with Non-Traditional Colors. Was that the easy way out???? No judging girls!!

I tried to find a color challenge to work with online, but ended up using a paper pack that was still out on my table: Letters to Santa. This pink and green pattern is actually a sheet in the pack. I think that's about as non-traditional as you can get.

Once I got all my layers settled, I knew just want stamp would be perfect with this paper...Mr Dasher. There was just something about the plaid that called his name. I cut my image to size, added some more layers and a cute button with this fabulous pink ribbon to finish it off.

PP63: My Dear Kind & Wonderful Friend

This week at the Paper Players, Nance has challenged us with a stunning color combination. These are not colors that I would naturally throw together, but they work together so perfectly. We actually made this card at my workshop on Thursday. My girls didn't know it...but, they got a sneak peek ;) I must say...this was one of their favorites of the night:


I think my favorite part of the card is the layering of these colors. The gray on the focal image and the postage stamps brings it all together with the gray card base. Those cute postage stamps were some of my new goodies that I pulled out: the Pretty Postage stamp set and the Postage Stamp punch. Can you see a theme here? This card originally started out as a postcard design....but, you can see that it transformed itself.

A Real Baja Christmas

Here's another card featuring the Baja Breeze/Real Red color combo. The star of this card is the fun polka dot paper from the Candy Cane Christmas DSP. You can't see it in this photo, but the polka dots are shimmering with glitter.

As if a little glitter wasn't enough, I added some Rhinestones, some Satin Ribbon and just a little paper piercing. It all just works perfectly!

The Ghostess with the Mostess

Our October host for Book Club always goes all out for Halloween. So, I decided to make her a little Thank You Card. I got the sketch from Card Pattern's Sketch #82 and the theme from Paper Pal Arts' 'Wickedly' fun challenge.

This paper is from a retired pack called Cast-A-Spell. If you have some, pull it out...it's that time of year! I added some Chunky Black Glitter, as I've been seeing it all over and wanted to play a little bit. I think I'll be finding glitter for quite some time in my workspace ;)

I don't have a lot of Halloween sets, but I feel this one is timeless. It's great for treat bags and toppers but also works great on cards. Hope you like it!

'Flap' Happy

It's so nice to receive handmade items. I was actually lucky enough to be a recipient of a handmade card from one of my students. He didn't make it, but his mom had. It was a flap card similar to this one & I just had to make one of my own.

The dimensions for the card base are: 4 1/4" x 9". You then score at 5 1/2". To make the flap, you just cut a rectangle large enough that when folded in half can hold your focal image. You glue the back side of the folded rectangle down and the front flap hangs open. My front fold was a bit heavy for my little flap, so I added a mini glue dot to hold it together and it worked perfectly.

The flower is made with the two flowers from the Vintage Vogue set. They are stamped, cut out and held together with a brad. I flipped up the edges to give it a bit more dimension. What a fun...and easy card to make! Give it a try.

Stamp Envy

Admit it...you've had it! You know...when there's that one stamp you want so dearly, but haven't bought yet...and your friend gets it on her next order. Well, this stamp for me is the Medallion. Why don't I own this YET??? My sweet friend Nicole was kind enough to bring her stamp to share with little 'ol me today as we got together for some much needed stamp time ;) And, I took full advantage.

I made these two beautiful cards. This stamp is so versatile. You can dress it up or dress it down. You decide. The White Medallion was embossed with White Embossing Powder. It just pops. My inspiration for this card is this one by kraftykate. The other Medallion was stamped with the Chocolate Chip Classic Pad. I didn't have the CC Craft Pad or I would have tried it. I think it may have given it a sharper image. But, I'm happy with how it turned out. This card was inspired by this card over at ArtisticAvenger. She made four cards with this one stamp set. What a great idea!

Nicole let me borrow her cherished stamp, so I plan to do a bit more with it (like stash it away...shhhh, don't tell her ;) So, I'm sure you'll see more of this guy. Thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Monday Challenge - Raspberry Tart Boutique

I saw the sketch over at Mojo Monday and knew I had to pull out my retired Raspberry Tart DSP from Stampin' Up! I LOVE this paper and will be sad when mine's all gone, but couldn't resist using it. Let this be inspiration to all of you...don't save it for a rainy day *wink*.

This challenge actually came together pretty quick for me. I decided on the papers I wanted to use for my circles, pulled out my Rose Red & Old Olive Ribbons, and knew that the Humor in High Heels stamp set would be just perfect! I love this dress and the designs in the DSP are perfect for recreating a fabric look. I did, however, have a huge white space at the top of my card that was throwing off the balance. I slept on it and woke up fresh this morning looking for ideas. I saw a scalloped edge on another card and thought layering mine might create a nice effect for the card. I needed something and I think this works. It reminds me of a cute boutique awning, which is just perfect for putting this dress center stage.

To finish it off, I added lots of bling and tied two elegant little bows to the center ribbons.
