Butterfly Bliss

Hi All,

Let's talk embossing folders.  We all have them and, if you're like me, you've got quite a collection of them.  I know you've used them to emboss your cardstock, but have you used them to stamp your cardstock?  I saw this technique used by Kim Jolley and just needed to give it a try.

It's such a simple idea and I had never really considered doing it.  Grab your embossing folder and open it up (I used the raised side).

Item# 139304 Fluttering $8.50
Trim a piece of Watercolor paper to the size you'd like.  {I trimmed mine a little bigger so I had a little extra to trim for the sentiment after it was inked.}

Item# 122959 Watercolor Paper $5.00
Get out your Sponge Daubers (you could probably use sponges too) and a couple of Stamp Pads.  I used Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide.

Item# 133773 Sponge Daubers $5.00
I dabbed the whole face of the folder with the Lemon Lime Twist and then went over it with the Tranquil Tide.

Item# 144086 Lemon Lime Twist Pad $6.50
Item# 144085 Tranquil Tide Pad $6.50

Spritzing with a bit of water will give it more of a watercolor look.  More water will wash out the colors, while less will leave more color.  You may have to experiment a bit.  Once spritzed, carefully lay your watercolor paper over the embossing folder and press.  I used a brayer, but it is not necessary.  Set aside and let dry.  It won't take too long.  The embossing folder and sponge daubers can both be easily rinsed and set aside to dry.

Item# 137360 Butterflies Thinlits $27.00
To finish it off, a butterfly was cut from the Butterflies Thinlits and backed with a piece of vellum.  I then stamped the sentiment on the trimmed piece of watercolor paper.  So pretty and I love the watercolor effect!

CCREW517CLR: Just for You

Hi All!

For our May Creative Crew Color Challenge, we were given Pinks and Greens with a bit of Coral. What a pretty combo!

These 'Sweet' colors are perfect for flowers...just like the picture.  I chose the Crazy About You stamp set.

To incorporate all of the colors, I stamped the flower image three times once in each color, trimmed them and layered them for some texture. It was then popped up with dimensionals. It turned out so pretty!  This set has another flower image that would work well too, along with 30 sentiments that can be mixed and matched.

Item# 137137 Crazy About You $25.00
For this card, I actually chose a sentiment from the So In Love stamp set.  I felt that the font was a better fit.  This set is one of my favorites from the Occasions Mini.  It's so versatile.  It's also retiring this month, so be sure to get it ordered if you'd like it as well.

Item# 143216 So In Love $15.00

Golden Goodness

Hi All!

The card I have for you today is chock-full of all kinds of golden goodness!  Glitter gold embossing...gold sequins...gold foil paper....what could be better?  I saw this card by Kelly Lunceford and just had to recreate.

The stamp set used for the gold embossing is called Dotty Angles.  It has these polka dots and another image with small triangles (think circa 1984).  I've had this set forever and just hadn't found the perfect card to use it with.

I loved her card in pink, but wanted to give it a try with an alternative too.  This card uses Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana. I let my workshop girls know how very special they were, as I was sharing some of my last sheets of the Coastal Cabana with them.  But, I couldn't resist...love these colors together.

The Stampin' Glitter creates the perfect amount of dazzle to your card.  But, you cannot use it alone. You also need to have the Heat & Stick Powder and a Versamark pad.  Following is the process:

  • Rub cardstock with Embossing Buddy {prevents extra powder/glitter from sticking}
  • Stamp image with Versamark
  • Add Heat & Stick powder to your image
  • Heat with the Heat Tool
  • Add Stampin' Glitter to the heated image
  • Heat once again with the Heat Tool

Below are some of the Must-Have items for this card:

Crazy for You / Hello You Thinlits Bundle  138873  $42.50
These can also be purchased separately
Dotty Angles  133658  $16.00
Gold Foil Sheets  132622  $4.00

Thinking of You

Hi All,

Today's card uses a color that I haven't really used much, but I sure fell in love with when I saw it on Pinterest: Crisp Cantaloupe.  This is a CASE of a card designed by Dawn Olchefske.

I loved how fresh the color felt.  So spring-y and light. The printed paper is actually a special DSP that is all white at first, but once you sponge on some ink, a design shows through.  This paper is great, as you can make it any color you'd like.

The stamp set is from the Occasions Mini.  It was a bundle: Crazy About You Stamp Set (28 sentiments and 3 flowers) and Hello You Thinlits Dies (4 add'l sentiments).  They pair up perfectly together and offer so many options.  This flower also pairs up with the Scallop Circle punch, which most of us already have.  I hope they keep this for the next catalog.  It would make a great starter set.

I hope you enjoyed this one as much as I did.  Thanks so much for stopping by!
